About this dish
A layer of seasoned minced meat topped with mashed potatoes and grated cheese, baked until golden. Hachis Parmentier is named after Antoine-Augustin Parmentier, the 18th-century French pharmacist and agronomist who promoted the potato in France. It is the French cousin of shepherd's pie.
