About this dish
A vegetarian burger with grated tofu cooked in BBQ sauce until it shreds like pulled pork, topped with avocado, red onion and lettuce. Pulled pork is slow-cooked, shredded pork from the American South; grating the tofu gives a similar stringy texture in minutes. Firm tofu works best.
Ingredients
Preparation
Peel and finely slice the red onion.
If needed, drain the tofu, then grate it.
Heat a drizzle of olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and cook for 2 to 3 minutes.
Add the grated tofu to the pan and mix well.
Add the paprika, garlic powder (if using), soy sauce and BBQ sauce. Mix and cook for 3 to 4 minutes.
In a second pan, melt a small piece of butter over medium heat. Toast the burger buns for 2 minutes, with the cut faces against the pan.
Spread the bottom bun with crème fraîche. Season with salt and pepper. Top with the lettuce, shredded tofu and avocado slices. Close the burger. Enjoy!
