About this dish
A cheeseburger with a French accent: Comté instead of cheddar, gherkins and wholegrain mustard, with red onion, tomato and baby gem. Comté melts well and has a nutty flavor that suits beef. Nothing about it is traditionally Parisian; the name points to the French flavors.
Ingredients
Preparation
Peel, then thinly slice the onion.
Slice the gherkins lengthwise.
Wash and slice the tomato into rounds.
If needed, remove the rind from the Comté, then slice it.
Melt a small piece of butter in a pan over medium heat. Toast the burger buns for 2 minutes, with the cut faces against the pan. Set aside.
In the same pan, heat a drizzle of olive oil over medium heat. Add the beef patties. Season with salt and pepper and cook for 2 minutes on one side.
Flip the patties and add the Comté slices on top. Cover and continue cooking for 2 minutes, until the cheese has melted.
Assemble the burger buns by spreading mustard on the base and mayonnaise on the top. Layer the lettuce, tomato rounds, beef patty, onion and gherkins. Close the burger and enjoy immediately. It's ready!
